This large male sika deer seems to be followed by two younger ones, their reflections in the water illuminated by the night sky.

This large group of female deer is an impressive sight. Groups such as this feed socially and travel together for safety. The disturbance from their movements is important for keeping the marsh open, allowing small plants to grow.

It is very late at night, however these ducks are still active as they are relatively safe from disturbance and predators.

A heron walks by the camera. These impressive birds feed amongst the reeds, eating everything from invertebrates, mammals, birds and fish.
